Two Lacey Residents Charged With Hit and Run

responded to two hit and run accidents within two days this week, Lt. James Veltri said.

Dorothy Doeffinger, 71, of Forked River was charged for a hit and run accident on Jan. 23, Veltri said.

Police responded to Pineview Road in Forked River at 10:19 a.m. where Doeffinger struck a parked car upon leaving her residence. When she returned home, she struck a portion of her fence.

Doeffinger was charged with DWI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report accident.

Jesse Gibson, 25, of Forked River was charged for a hit and run accident on Jan. 22, police said.

At 2:30 a.m. a vehicle travelling on Lacey Road slowing to make a turn was rear-ended. The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the turning car fled the scene.

The 32-year-old female operator of the struck vehicle was taken to an area hospital and treated for neck injuries.

Investigation led to the arrest of Gibson, who was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and failure to report an accident.

Jan. 23
Police responded to Hebrew Park at 1:23 a.m. on a report of criminal mischief. The restroom building sustained damage including a large hole broken through a concrete block. Damage was estimated at $500.

Jan. 21
A resident of Phillips Road in the Bamber Lake section of Lacey reported an Apple iPad was stolen from the home. The iPad was valued at $900. There was no sign of forced entry.

Jan. 20
A resident of Laurel Boulevard reported a stolen Pioneer 42-inch Plasma TV valued at $2,900. There was no signed of forced entry.

Jan. 23
A resident of Tappan Street, Forked River reported that their Nikon COOLPIX digital camera valued at $170 was stolen from the home. The resident returned home to an unsecured house and discovered someone had entered. There was no sign of forced entry.

Jan. 19
A resident on Erie Way reported someone stole a $3,000 engagement ring from the home. There was no forced entry.

Jan. 17
Police reported to the high school on a report of criminal mischief. Someone shattered the cab to a piece of John Deere equipment. There was $800 in damage.

Jan. 17
Police took report at a building formerly known as the Peking Buffet on Route 9 where equipment was stolen. Stolen items include $450 worth of hand tools and power tools and three outdoor refrigeration compressors valued at $10,000.

Jan. 15
Prior to midnight, police made a motor vehicle stop on Lacey Road. Investigation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old Lacey Township female who was charged with DWI, underage DWI, reckless driving, provisional violation and failure to maintain lane.

Jan. 15
A 16-year-old female from Bayville was detained by Walmart security at 11 p.m. for allegedly shoplifting. The juvenile allegedly stole $36.11 worth of merchandise from the store. She was released to her father pending juvenile court.

Jan. 15
A 16-year-old Lacey female was detained by security at 5 p.m. for allegedly stealing $53.52 of merchandise. She was charged on a juvenile complaint for shoplifting and released to parents.

Jan. 14
Police arrested Patrick Cornelius, 22, of Lanoka harbor for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Asbury Park Municipal Court.

Cornelius also had a $300 warrant issued by Dover Township Municipal Court. He was turned over to the Dover Township Police Department.

Jan. 13
Nicholas Batalla, 24, of Forked River was arrested at 4:45 p.m. on the strength of an $851 Ship Bottom Municipal warrant. He was processed and released on his own recognizance.
