Two Lacey residents were arrested recently and charged with pot and fireworks possession while they were sitting in a car, police said.

Upon making an inquiry, the officers detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19-year-old Trevor Matthews of Lakeside Drive North in Forked River, and the passenger, 18-year-old Julius Sciamanna 4th of Devon Street in Forked River.

The suspects were found to be in possession of marijuana as well as assorted fireworks police said.

Both subjects were transported to Lacey Township police headquarters, where they were processed and released on summonses. Both suspects were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of fireworks.
