Two Injured In Fire That Burns Lacey House

Two people were injured in a fire that burned an Eleanor Road house in Lacey Township Monday, police said.

Kathleen Mahoney, a resident of the house, suffered minor smoke inhalation and was transported to Community Medical center for treatment, police said.

Scott Smedile, a Forked River firefighter, also suffered a minor burn injury to his hand was treated at Community.

At 10:06 a.m., police responded to 324 Eleanor Road in the Forked River section of Lacey and saw the house was "engulfed in flames," police said.

The fire was extinguished by the Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, Bamber Lakes, Bayville and the Waretown fire departments.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
