Two Arrested in Marijuana By Mail Distribution With Help From U.S. Post Office

Three pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia recovered

Two men have been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and intent to distribute marijuana after a joint investigation by Lacey detectives and the Forked River office of the U.S. Postal Service, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Lacey police, with the cooperation of the Postal Service, executed a search warrant at 1510 Arient Road in Forked River on the afternoon of June 24, the chief said.

The warrant was obtained during a narcotics investigation initially based on information received from the Forked River office. The investigation involved the anticipated delivery of several pounds of marijuana to the home.

Detectives conducted a stop of a vehicle leaving the target home before the warrant was executed. The car was driven by Lenny Maroney, 42, 558 Lloyd Road in Toms River. Police found roughly three pounds of marijuana in the car that had been delivered to the Arient Road address, Paprota said.

A subsequent execution of the search warrant at 1510 Arient Road yielded additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the chief said.

Maroney and Donald Klarmann, 27, Arient Road, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and intent to distribute marijuana. Both men were taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $17,500 cash bail, Paprota said.
