A 64-year-old Toms River man was arrested and charged in an alleged underage prostitution scheme, state police confirmed today.
Daniel Aversano was charged on Sept. 27 with two counts of engaging in prostitution with a minor and one count each of engaging in sexual conduct with a minor and endangering the welfare of a child, said Lt. Stephen Jones of the State Police.
State Police, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Toms River police aided in the investigation. Jones said Aversano was arrested Sept. 27 in Toms River and remanded to Ocean County Jail.
Jones said the victim is the same for each of the charges: a teenage boy who was 15 at the time of the incidents.
The lieutenant said the investigation is ongoing, and is related to charges filed earlier this year against three other men: Toms River resident Daniel Dinnebeil; Carlton Golden Jr. of Millstone, Monmouth County; and David Herzfeld, of Robbinsville.
“This dates back to February and earlier,” Jones said. “The victim is the same in the charges against them all, the incidents are related, and the investigation is ongoing.”
Dinnebeil, Herzfeld and Golden were each charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Jones said. Herzfeld faces an additional charge of engaging in prostitution with a minor.
Jones declined further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
