Suspects Indicted in Lacey Heroin Case

Traffic stop turned up 260 bags of heroin, police say

Four local residents have been indicted in a case that yielded 260 bags of heroin following a traffic stop, authorities say.

William Shelby, 28, and Diane Cannito, 48, both of Lacey Township, were indicted by an Ocean County Grand Jury this week for third-degree possession of heroin and third-degree possession of heroin with the intent to distribute in a quantity of less than one-half ounce, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday.

Lauren Jaegge, 23, of Lacey Township, and Brendan Gallivan, 25, of Waretown, were charged with third-degree possession of heroin in the same case.

In May, Lacey police conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Lacey Road and Newark Avenue that was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Chief David A. Paprota said at the time.

Township police and officers from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department searched the vehicle and turned up 260 bags of heroin with a street value of about $3,000, authorities said.
