Suspect Fled on Foot After Forked River Burglary

Two Forked River burglaries in one day

A suspect fled the scene of a burglary on Windjammer Court in Forked River on March 30 after a homeowner discovered the stranger in their yard.

The suspect was discovered in the yard as the resident was returning home. The stranger then fled the area on foot.

After checking the home, the resident reported that more than $1,500 in jewelry was stolen from the unlocked residence. Property within the home was also repositioned.

The stranger was reported to be a white male between the ages of 17 and 20. He wore a black-hooded sweatshirt with white shorts.

The Lacey Township Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. A K-9 team from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and CIU assisted them.

This was the second reported burglary that day.

The police also responded to a residence in the same area of Forked River earlier that day.

The residents of a Pine Forrest Lane home were returning home when they found their home had been entered.

The police responded to the scene at approximately 9:44 a.m. The home was damaged but nothing was reported stolen.

Officer Michael Eden and Detective James Wood are investigating the incident.

All residents are asked to report any suspicious activity to the police.
