State Police Respond to 21 Lacey Accidents Saturday

All but one resulted in minor injuries

State police responded to 21 accidents, one fatal, on the Lacey stretch of the Garden State Parkway this past weekend, Sgt. Adam Grossman said.

Grossman could not say how many people were hospitalized as a result of the accidents; all but one of the injuries was reported to be minor.

A passing motorist killed Anibal Espinoza, 34, of North Plainfield when he and a group of friends were attempting to assist a Barnegat woman with her disabled car. Two were charged in the accident.

Grossman described the accidents as a “fluid situation.”

According to the Atlantic City Press, the bulk of the accidents occurred from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday along the 10-mile stretch of the highway in Ocean County.

“All of the accidents remain under investigation,” Grossman said. “There was no one specific cause.”

Saturday brought icy roadways due to sleet but Grossman could not say if that was the contributing cause to the accidents.
