Residents' Call Leads to Arrest of Toms River Man on Drug Charges

DWI and shoplifting arrests

A Toms River resident faces drug charges after police responded to a call made by residents.

Jordan Scott, 19, was arrested when police encountered him in the area of Clairmore Avenue. Residents on Clairmore called police at 2:13 a.m. on May 8 complaining about unwanted guests.

While investigating the neighborhood, police found Scott. Scott had an outstanding warrant from South Toms River for $250. During the arrest, police discovered Scott had concealed a controlled dangerous substance or prescription pills on him.

Scott was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance on an additional warrant of $10,000. He was sent to Ocean County Jail. He was unable to post bail for either warrants.

Margaret Soja, 47, of Lanoka Harbor was charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to Lacey Road for a motor vehicle driving all over the roadway.

Police obtained a description of the car and responded at 10:45 p.m. where they found the car in the parking lot of Community Hall. 

Investigation at the scene led to Soja being charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and operating a motor vehicle during a period of license suspension for certain offenses. 

May 8
Antonio Willis, 40, of Lakewood was detained on the suspicion of shoplifting from Walmart at 3:30 p.m.  He allegedly shoplifted $73 worth of merchandise.

Willis was charged with one count of shoplifting on a $1,000 warrant. He was also found to have a Ocean County no bail warrant. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail on the strength of both warrants.

Ann Marie Seufert, 22, of Seaside Heights was charged and released on a summons for allegedly attempting to shoplift $329 worth of merchandise from TJ Maxx at 3:43 p.m. responded to T.J.Maxx.

Seufert was also charged with criminal mischief and possession and use of an anti shoplifting device counter measure. 

May 9
Kimberly Hayes, 46, of Forked River was arrested at 10 p.m. after police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Arlington Avenue and Lakeside Drive North.

Hayes’ vehicle struck a parked car. Investigation led to Hayse being charged with DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.

Paloma Gibson, 24, of Forked River was pulled over at 11:15 p.m. after a police officer observed a motor vehicle unable to maintain its lane of travel while traveling southbound on Route 9.

Gibson was pulled over and investigation led to her being charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and cell phone use. 

May 10
Dennis Gullo, 47, of Lanoka Harbor was detained on the suspicion of shoplifting from Walmart.

Gullo was processed and released on a complaint summons. He allegedly stole a SOG folding knife valued at $39.88.

Police responded to a Bayberry Drive home in Lanoka Harbor where two articles of jewelry valued at $300 were reported stolen. There was no forced entry.

Police responded to a Brentwood Road home in Forked River where a resident reported that someone broke a rear window with a rock causing $1,000 in damage. 

May 12
Robert Sitler, 33, of Forked River was arrested at 2:10 a.m. after police observed him operating a car without using headlights while traveling north on Route 9.

Sitler was charged with DWI, reckless driving and no headlights.

While Sitler was under arrest, police found that he had a $106 active warrant from Beachwood Township. He was able to post bail prior to release. 

May 12
A boat located at the Laurel Harbor Marina was entered and a Boat located on land at marina was entered. Stolen was Chrysler Heat Exchanger, Garmin GPS and a toolbox. The total value was $1,800.

A vehicle parked at the Kohl’s parking lot at Lacey Mall was entered and an iPad was reported stolen. 

May 13
David Capparelli, 19, of Manchester was the subject of a motor vehicle stop. During the stop police found Capparelli had an outstanding warrant out of Brick Township Municipal Court for $120. He was taken into custody and later posted bail.

A resident on Radcliffe Road in Lanoka Harbor reported that someone entered a shed and stole a STIHL chainsaw valued at $350. During the same time period $1,000 in change was stolen from the residence. There was no sign of a forced entry.

A resident of Hemlock Drive in Lanoka Harbor reported that an unlocked shed was entered and a STIHL weed trimmer valued at $250 was stolen.

A resident of Clairmore Avenue reported that jewelry and money valued over $500 was stolen. There was no forced entry.
