Purse Snatcher Indicted For Fraud

Forked River man made fraudulent purchases with stolen credit cards at Walmart and K-Mart

A Forked River man is charged with stealing credit cards from two women and using them on shopping sprees in Lacey, Berkeley and Toms River, including the purchase of a 52-inch television set.

William J. Hoefsloot Jr., 34, of Parkside Drive, is accused of on March 13 in Lacey and using one of her credit cards at the Walmart in Lacey to buy the television and a Sony Playstation 3 game system.

Two days later, in Berkeley, Hoefsloot is accused of stealing another woman’s credit card and using it at the K-Mart in Toms River to buy a camera worth more than $500. On March 16, in Lacey, Hoefsloot is accused of having heroin.

Hoefsloot is free on $25,000 bail on the charges included in an Ocean County grand jury indictment.

Matthew A. Copeland, 20, of Lakeside Drive South, Forked River, of March 10 in Lacey. Co-defendants Sarrah Murrar, 23, of Center Street, and Michael J. Costello, 21, of Elwood Street, both of Forked River, are charged with giving false information to police to implicate someone in a crime.

Copeland has been previously charged in three unrelated incidents with f after allegedly refusing to return a missing cell phone and after he allegedly burglarized a car parked at Walmart.
