Police Witness Drug Transaction, Arrest Two

Attempted break ins, criminal mischief and telephone fraud

Police arrested two on drug charges following a motor vehicle stop earlier in February.

Lacey detectives witnessed a possible drug transaction between two suspects on Feb. 1.

During a motor vehicle stop, detectives found marijuana in the car and arrested the driver, Lynnea Davies, 27, of West Creek. She was charged with possession of marijuana.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Thomas Guzy, 26, of Barnegat on March 5. He was charged with possession of marijuana and distribution of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Both were released on their own recognizance pending a court appearance.

The following information was provided by the Lacey Township Police Department: 

March 1
At 8:50 p.m., a resident of Bunnell Street in Lanoka Harbor reported that he observed two male subjects in the fenced in backyard of his residence. When he exited his house to confront them, they jumped over the fence and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

There appeared to be nothing missing from the residence at the time of the report.

The complainant and his brother also reported seeing a red pickup truck driving up and down the street with its lights off during the same timeframe. Officers located the pickup then identified and questioned the driver who denied involvement. The two unknown subjects were not located in the area. 

Feb. 28
A resident of Tappan Street, Forked River, reported receiving a phone call from a male subject who identified himself as an employee of Chase Bank.

The caller told him he had was fraudulent activity on his credit card. The caller was asking him for personal account information related to his Chase Bank Credit Card. The suspect caller had a foreign accent. No information was provided.

The resident called Chase Bank and learned that there was no fraudulent activity on his card and no representatives called him. 

Feb. 25
The owner of a plumbing company reported that during the overnight hours, one of his work vehicles was vandalized while it was parked in the Sea Breeze development.

The following glass was smashed in the vehicle: windshield, passenger side window, and passenger side mirror. Spray paint was also noted on the passenger side of the van.

It appears the mischief was done by a group of juveniles. The van was parked in a contractor area since the surrounding location is a newly constructed development, which is owned by Toll Brothers, Inc. The value of damage is estimated to be $800.

A resident reported that around 9 p.m. she heard what sounded like someone trying to open the front door of her Williams Avenue residence. When she got up and looked outside the front window she observed a subject wearing a dark colored hoodie running from the house. No other description provided.

A resident reported that around 2:30 a.m. he heard someone jiggle the handle to the backdoor of his residence. The resident turned on the lights and heard a female say, “I thought you said she was not home.” The subjects left the area. No other description provided. 

Feb. 25
Between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. someone damaged a 2008 Ford Expedition while it was parked in the driveway of an Enterprise Drive residence.  The rear passenger side of the vehicle had a four-inch scratch in the fender. The value of the damage is estimated at $500.
