Police: Walmart 'Good Samaritan' Stole Money Before Returning Wallet

Bayville woman faces theft charge

A would-be Good Samaritan at the Lacey Walmart store was anything but, police say.

After a 21-year-old Bayville woman reported leaving her wallet in a shopping cart within the store Nov. 22, she was likely happy to hear that it had been found by another customer and turned over to store a employee.

But store surveillance footage shows Christine Caban, 53, of Bayville take money out of the wallet prior to turning it over, police said.

Caban was found to be in possession of the money and was issued a complaint summons for theft, police said.
