Police Secure Man Who Threatened to Jump Into Oyster Creek

Ocean Township resident transported to Community Medical Center

A 25-year-old Ocean Township man was transported Monday night to Community Medical Center for a mental evaluation after threatening to jump from an old railroad trestle in Lacey.

Police responded to Route 9 and the Ocean Township border with Lacey on a report of a despondent man threatening to jump from an unused trestle that spans the discharge canal of Oyster Creek Generating Station at 9:41 p.m.

The man voluntarily walked off the trestle after speaking with Officer John McKee for approximately 45 minutes, police said.

The Ocean Township Police Department, the Forked River Fire Department and the Lacey Township Dive Team also assisted at the scene.

Gimme a break that bridge is about 12 ft high. He might've sprained an ankle
Evernotice June 26, 2012 at 07:28 PM
Sounds like a scene from Titanic. All seriousness, hope he gets help before he finds a taller bridge.
KC June 26, 2012 at 08:56 PM
Hey nameless. How high the bridge is doesn't matter. This guy is obviously not well and had intensions of hurting himself. Thank you Lacey Police for taking this seriously and talking him down from doing something he would have regretted. Hope he gets well.

Your absolutely right Patrick. And this bridge is only about 12 ft tall. I love seeing the lacey police spending time trying to talk him down. It's like throwing my tax dollars in the toilet.
KC June 26, 2012 at 09:42 PM
Some people genuinely care about others. You obviously don't.
KC June 26, 2012 at 09:43 PM
Unless it was one if your loves ones then if police didn't go and try to do something you would be pissed.
Patrick Sayjack June 26, 2012 at 09:47 PM
Sorry KC I'm just not buying that your sitting around hoping this kid gets better unless your a friend or family member
billy jones June 26, 2012 at 09:48 PM
Sorry my loved ones would never attempt such a cowardly act.

Hey you really have a great command of the English Language Patrick. The correct way to say it is "I couldn't care less"......by saying you could care less that actually means that you do care.....wait for it.......wait for it.......DUH!
