Police Responded to 2 Apparent Drug Overdoses Last Week

Police responded to two drug overdose calls at Forked River residences on Jan. 27.

Officers responded to a home for an ambulance call, where police and members of Lacey EMS treated a 27-year-old male from Little Egg Harbor for an apparent drug overdose.

The male was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment. Charges related to possession of a controlled dangerous substance are pending.

That same day, police also responded to another Forked River home for an ambulance call. Police and members of Lacey EMS treated a 23-year-old male Forked River resident for an apparent alcohol and drug overdose.

The male was also transported to Community Medical Center for Treatment.

Capt. David Paprota provided the following information:

Jan. 28
Laurel Jaeege, 23, of Forked River was arrested for allegedly shoplifting $21.82 worth of merchandise from Walmart. Jaeege was charged with one count of shoplifting. She was processed and released.

Jan. 27
A resident of Arlington Lane North in the Forked River Beach area reported a theft of various items from the property.

During the daytime hours of Jan. 25, someone entered the property and stole copper fittings and other recyclable items previously placed outside the garage door of the residence. Several of the electrical items were also damaged, as the power cords were cut off.

Jan. 26
Kenneth Ryno, 41, of Bayville was charged with driving while suspended after a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 9 and First Street. Ryno was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued by the Manchester Township Municipal Court. He posted $750 bail and was released.

Jan. 24
Police conducted a motor vehicle stop at Harrison Avenue and Devon Street. The passenger of the vehicle, Brittani Koppenjan, 21, of Lanoka Harbor had several outstanding warrants issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

After being arrested for those warrants, she was found in possession of heroin. Koppenjan was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and sent to the Ocean County Jail.

Jan. 18
A resident of Capshaw Road in the Bamber Lake section of Lacey reported that during the prior week, multiple items with a total value of $1,150 were stolen from the home.

The stolen items included an air conditioner condenser, two air conditioner coils and ten pounds of copper tube. These types of items are commonly stolen and sold as scrap for a small portion of the replacement value, police said.
