Police: Juvenile's Claims of Theft, 'Get-Away' Vehicle False

Police say that a juvenile's recent report of a theft and get-away vehicle are false.

According to police:

On February 14, 2014, officers responded to a Hollywood Boulevard residence in Forked River in reference to a report of a residential burglary.

A 17-year-old resident reportedly arrived home during the evening and reported that he observed an unknown male suspect running from the residence. Upon the arrival of the officers, they discovered a large flat screen television missing and a smaller television, originally in a bedroom, placed in the hallway.

The juvenile provided a description of the suspect and a "get-away" vehicle. During the investigation, detectives located the stolen television at a second-hand merchandise dealer. The television had been sold on the same day as the burglary but prior to the reported time of the entry. Further investigation revealed that the matter was a false report.
