Police Investigating Theft of $11,600 In Jewelry From Forked River Home

No signs of forced entry found, police chief says


A Woodland Drive resident got an unwelcome surprise when she returned home after an eight-day absence.

Officer Keith Pearce responded at 11:27 a.m. on June 27 on a report of a theft in the 400 block, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

The resident told police that an unknown person stole several pieces of jewelry from her jewelry box while she was away for eight days, the chief said.

The stolen items included: a 14 ct. gold pearl and diamond ring; an 18 ct. gold amethyst/diamond ring; a 14 ct. gold engagement ring 1/2 ct. diamond solitaire; a Victorian 1/4 ct. diamond ring (family heirloom); a 14 ct. 18 inch chain necklace; a 14 ct. gold rope chain necklace; and a 14 ct. gold chain with a cross. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $11,600, Paprota said.

No signs of forced entry could be located, the chief said.
