Police Investigate Rash of House Burglaries

Smashed rear glass doors is the commonality in recent residential burglaries

Police are investigating a rash of house burglaries in which rear glass doors are being shattered before entered and robbed. This past week alone, there were six.

On March 6, a resident reported a house burglary on Stony Point Road in Forked River. The rear glass door was smashed and jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom. A value has yet to be determined.

A Manchester Avenue home in Forked River had its rear glass door smashed on March 5. The burglar entered the master bedroom but it is unknown whether items were stolen.

On March 4, officers responded to a forced entry on Railroad Avenue home in Lanoka Harbor. The rear glass door was smashed but it doesn’t appear that entry was actually gained into the residence.

The rear glass metal door of a Lakeside Drive North home in Forked River was smashed on March 1. Jewelry was taken but a value has yet to be determined.

On March 1, an East Lakeside Drive residence in Forked River was entered through a shattered back door. It doesn’t appear that anything was stolen from the home.

There was a residential burglary on Evans Street in Lanoka Harbor on Feb. 29. The rear glass door was smashed and the master bedroom was entered. Jewelry was stolen.

At least 11 residential burglaries with forced entry were five of which were entered through a smashed back door.

Lieutenant Scott Tirella provided the following information:

March 6
Frank Haire, 51, of Bayville was arrested for allegedly driving while suspended. Haire was originally suspended for DWI. He was processed and released after he was charged with driving while suspended and other vehicle summonses including unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

March 5
Bruce Askins, 27, of Forked River was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery. Askins allegedly attempted to cash a stolen check from a mailbox in Stafford. He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $20,000.

March 5
Joseph Hover, 24, of Forked River was arrested for allegedly shoplifting $150 in clothing from Kohl’s. He was processed and released.

March 3
A 17-year-old Bayville resident was involved in a motor vehicle accident in a parking lot and fled the scene. The juvenile was located on Western Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor and arrested at 10 p.m.

March 4
Andrew Yuveges, 19, of Forked River was arrested for DWI at 1 a.m. He was processed and released.

March 3
Police responded to Lacey Self Storage in the business park on a report of criminal mischief. The locks were cut off of five storage units. The units may have been entered but nothing appears to have been stolen.

March 2
Police arrested James Urcinole II, 31 of Forked River after he allegedly fled the scene of a hit and run motor vehicle accident on foot. The accident occurred at Route 9 and Lacey Road at 10 p.m.

Urcinole was located and arrested on Sunrise Boulevard and charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle while suspended and other motor vehicle offenses. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $5,000.
