Police: Forked River Man Stole and Crashed Vehicle

A Forked River man was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal mischief after he allegedly stole and crashed a vehicle.

Thomas Carrano, 19, of 351 Enterprise Drive was arrested on Dec. 14 after the investigation of a motor vehicle accident.

responded to a one-car accident on Kennebec Drive in Forked River during the early hours of June 15. When police arrived at the scene, the driver fled before being identified.

The owner of the 2000 Chevrolet was contacted and reported that the vehicle was unknowingly stolen from his driveway. The car was totaled during the accident.

The suspect was identified after DNA was recovered from the scene and submitted to the New Jersey State Police.

Carrano was arrested in the area of Sunrise Beach in Forked River and charged with burglary, unlawful means of conveyance and criminal mischief. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
