Police: DUI Driver Fled Scene, Resisted Arrest

Lacey DUI and warrant arrests

A Forked River man was arrested after he allegedly "refused to cooperate" with an officer, police said.

Andrew Wake, 24, was driving on Beach Boulevard when Officer Evan Androcy stopped him for speeding at 2:50 a.m. March 17.

Wake refused to cooperate and fled from the scene, police said.

Androcy followed Wake to his home where he resisted arrest, police said. Wake was restrained and arrested.

He was charged with obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest, DUI, reckless driving and speeding.

Wake was released at Community Medical Center. 

Police Chief David Paprota provided the following information:

March 18
Damage at Gille Park was found. The lock on a door to the shed near the hockey roller rinks was pried. The incident took place over the weekend between 9 a.m. on March 15 and 8:30 a.m. on March 18. 

March 17
Officer Joseph Soto arrested Dana Roman, 43, of Forked River for a $300 warrant issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court. Roman was released after posting bail.

Officer Andrew Slota arrested Robert M. Sitler, 34, of Forked River for a $200 warrant issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court. R. Sitler was released after posting bail.

At approximately 2:08 a.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 9 and Taylor Lane.

The driver, Lorraine Ferraro, 51, of Barnegat, NJ, was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, speeding and maintenance of lamps.

Ferraro’s vehicle was impounded and she was released after processing. 

March 17
At approximately 5:34 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9, north of Lacey Road.

One of the drivers, Michael Leigh, 21, of Forked River was arrested and charged with DUI, refusal to submit to a breath test and reckless driving. 

Leigh’s vehicle was impounded and he was released after processing. 

March 17
At approximately 8:05 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Western Boulevard and Manchester Avenue. The accident involved two vehicles and caused minor injuries to one person.

One of the drivers, Mark Griffin, 36, of Manahawkin was arrested for and charged with DUI, reckless driving, obstructed windshield and DUI within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

Griffin’s vehicle was impounded and he was released after processing. 

March 16
A caller reported having observed a large group of juveniles, who appeared to be up to mischief, gathering in the area of Grouse Court and Pheasant Hollow Drive in Lanoka Harbor at approximately 9:30 p.m. March 15.

The Lacey Township Police Department was not contacted at the time of the incident. On March 16 at 8:30 a.m., the caller reported that the street sign in that area had been torn out of the ground and left in a front yard. 

March 12
Officer John Simonson arrested Keith R. Cicerello, 41, of Forked River on a $7,565 child support warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Cicerello was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Jail. 

March 15
Officer Peter Donahue arrested Donald K. Wallis, 44, of Forked River for a $290 warrant issued by the Chatsworth Municipal Court. Wallis posted bail and was released. 

March 15
Officer Peter Donahue arrested Steven DiStefano, 24, for a $750.00 warrant issued by the Manchester Township Municipal Court. DiStefano posted bail and was released
