Police: Controlled Burn in Pines Could Make Things Smoky on Monday

Ocean Township (Waretown) police are advising that smoke from a controlled burn could travel into the local area Monday.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service will be conducting controlled burning today between mile markers 17 and 18 on Route 539, north of cedar bridge tower, police said.

The tower is located off Route 539 near Bryant Road, a dirt road that run through the pine barrens. It is situated several miles south of Route 539's intersection with Lacey Road and several miles west of the Garden State Parkway.

"We've been advised that smoke may be blowing into town," police said.
