Police Charge Forked River Man With Drunk Driving After Crash

Township man was on cell phone at time of crash, chief said

Lacey police recently arrested a 28-year-old township man after a patrol officer spotted a car that had crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Route 9 and Ford Street, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Officer Noah Schaffer was on patrol at 2:02 a.m. on April 11 when he saw the car. He arrested Mark R. Spina on charges of driving while under the influence after further investigation, the chief said.

Spina was taken to police headquarters, where he was also charged with failure to submit to breath samples, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and using a cell phone while operating a moving vehicle. His car was impounded as per John's Law, Paprota said.
