Police Blotter: Two Waretown Men Charged With Four Car Burglaries

Police encourage residents to lock their unoccupied vehicles

Two Waretown men were arrested and charged with burglary and theft of removable property, police said.

Jeffery Ackerman, 19, and Adam Grasso, 20, were arrested at a Forked River convenience store after police linked them to four car burglaries.

Lacey Township Police were dispatched to a Forked River convenience store at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 on a report of two young adult males in the process of converting about $135 worth in change.

Subsequent investigation led to police linking the two males to various car burglaries:

  • One vehicle was parked unlocked on Eagleswood Avenue in Lanoka Harbor and was missing under $5 worth of change.
  • Another car parked unlocked on Eagleswood Avenue was missing a $150 iPod.
  • An unlocked vehicle parked on Lanlac Drive in Lanoka Harbor had $780 worth of numerous items stolen.
  • A coach wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Oakhill Court.

A substantial amount of the items were returned back to the owners, police said.

Ackerman and Grasso were charged with four counts of burglary and four counts of theft of removable property.

“The Lacey Township Police Department is reminding residents to please lock their vehicles when unoccupied and remove your valuables,” Lt. James Veltri said. “Also, if anyone has discovered missing items from their vehicles, do not hesitate to call the police department and report it.”

Veltri provided the following information on other car burglaries:

Nov. 2
An unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Stafford Avenue in Lanoka Harbor was entered and a silver Mavado watch valued at $400 and a few discount cards were stolen.

Nov. 1
An unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Westwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor was entered. Approximately $20 in cash, $5 in change and a pinky ring containing silver and black onyx valued at $100 were stolen.

Nov. 1
A resident of Bayville reported that while their vehicle was parked on Lacey Road waiting to be towed after it became disabled, it was entered and a wallet and personal identification was stolen.
