Police Blotter: Numerous Decorative Yard Items Stolen

Police Blotter from May 24 to May 31

Throughout the past two months, a variety of items, including decorative pieces, have been stolen from yards in Lacey Township.

There were three incidents this week alone in which decorative items, including a flowerpot, a wind chime, a cement planter, and walkway lights, were stolen.

Other items stolen include power tools and boating or pool equipment.

The following information was provided by Lt. James Veltri:

May 31

Michael Leigh, 20, of Forked River was arrested at 1:30 a.m. after allegedly driving a Jeep Wrangler onto a front lawn on Cambridge Road in Lanoka Harbor. Leigh struck a basketball post, metal train post, a white vinyl fence, and a garbage can, police said.

Leigh was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), underage DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.

May 30

Police reported to Clune Park where they found mirrors broken in the men’s bathroom. The replacement cost is $600, including labor installation.

A resident on Letts Avenue in Forked River reported that three brushed nickel solar lawn walkway lights valued at $100 were stolen from the lawn.

Police reported to Gille Park in Lanoka Harbor where graffiti was found inside the men’s restroom. The cost to repair was $150.

A car stereo was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Hill Top Drive in Lanoka Harbor. The stereo was valued at $100.

May 28

William Pavlik IV, 55, of Bayville was arrested at 12:30 a.m. and charged with DWI.

May 27

Rocco Selig, 48, was arrested on an Ocean County Sheriffs Department warrant with bail set at $30,000. Selig was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with an additional bail set at $2,000 and no 10 percent option. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail.

May 26

Two commercial air conditioning units were damaged at the Village Green Strip Mall on Route 9 in Forked River. Copper was stolen from the units and a similar incident happened a week prior in the same shopping center. The repair costs were approximately $6,000.

A 1995 Chevy pickup truck valued at $5,000 was stolen from Joffre Road in Forked River. The car was parked on the roadway with the key in the vehicle. The car was recovered later that day without damage. It was found parked in a residential area by Forked River beach.

A home on Lakeside Drive North was forcibly entered. More than $3,000 worth of jewelry was stolen and items were strewn.

Approximately $350 in loose change was stolen from a home on Evans Road in Forked River. There was no forced entry.

May 25

Kimberly Ingraldi, 44, of Forked River was arrested for an outstanding warrant of $250 issued by the Long Beach Island Court. She was originally stopped for speeding. Ingraldi posted bail and was released.

May 25

A resident on Kent Drive in Forked River reported that a vehicle had broken down in the neighborhood. The occupant knocked on the resident’s door and said the car was overheated and she needed water. The resident supplied water and later found that a bottle of alprazolam, a prescription, was stolen.

May 25

An adult male from Manahawkin reported that he lost his phone at the Lacey Mall. The male called the phone and made arrangements to get it back. The people who found the phone would not return the phone without a reward.

Justin Schlesier, 19, of South River and Matthew Copeland, 20, and Ashley Frank, 18, both of Forked River all received summons for failure to return found or mislaid property. They were released on summons and the phone was recovered.

May 25

The crawl space of an unoccupied residence on Constitution Drive in Forked River was entered. Fifty feet of cooper was stolen from the water supply lines. The estimated damage is unknown.

A forced entry was made at a residence on Beach Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. Nothing was reported stolen.

May 25

A home on Beach Boulevard was forced entered. About $140 in cash and a bottle of prescription cough medicine with codone was stolen.

May 24

Samuel Ciardi, 55, of Toms River was arrested on a $350 outstanding warrant from Toms River. Ciardi was originally stopped for speeding. He posted bail and was released.

May 24

Christopher Cox, 21, was arrested at 6:45 a.m. Cox had a warrant $125 warrant from Berkeley, $200 warrant from Lacey, a $750 warrant from Berkeley, and a $10,195 warrant from the Ocean County Sheriffs Department. Cox was taken to the Ocean County Jail.

May 24

Angela Oriole, 27, of Bayville was arrested. Oriole was detained for attempting to shoplift women’s apparel and accessories valued at $381.
