Police: Barnegat Woman Used Child to Shoplift from Walmart

Jessica Bozarth was sent to Ocean County Jail with bail set at $15,000

Police claim a Barnegat woman used a young boy to help her shoplift items from Walmart.

Police responded to the Lacey superstore at approximately 5 p.m. on May 29 when Jessica Bozarth, 28, was being detained on suspicion of shoplifting.

Subsequent investigation found that Bozarth, while shopping with an 8-year old and 6-year old male, placed $350.20 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart, police said. The merchandise included two tower fans, a dehumidifier and one Barbie Party Camper Playset.

Under Bozarth’s direction, the shopping cart was then pushed out of the store by one of the juvenile males, police said.

Bozarth was charged with one count of fourth-degree shoplifting and one count of third-degree employing a juvenile in the commission of a criminal offense.

Bozarth was sent to Ocean County Jail in lieu of her $15,000 bail, with no 10 percent option. The children were turned over to a family member.
