Parkway Accident In Snow-Ridden Lacey; Exit Ramp Blocked

An accident on the Garden State Parkway southbound side is typing up traffic near Exit 74 in Lacey.

The exit ramp is blocked due to accident, according to parkway authorities.

That photo looks like anywhere but Lacey, where do we have a roadway with a concrete divider and I don't see an accident anywhere in that picture.

Resident, would you prefer that the editor risk his life to drive out in the snow in order to take a more accurate picture? What good would a picture do? It really is simple, the ramp is blocked due to an accident.. **SMH**

When one reports the news the photo should be of the actual news being reported, not something from another town or state as has been the case as of late. I do not wish any harm toward anyone however reporters have been risking their lives as long as there has been news to report. In the past we have had people whom would go and take actual photos of the news being posted. It was extremely valuable to me on several times to see the actual image that corresponded to the stories when I was out of town and the news actually pertained to myself, family or friends. Hurricane sandy would be a great example, there were photos posted from around town and in them were family and friends homes and cars as well as my own. I was safely in a hotel but the news was reported by the faithful editor and it was important to have the real photos not something from another town, state or generic! There is a reason that press passes are issued I wish our editor would safely use his. As I was driving around Lacey at the time this was posted I can say that yes the roads were sloppy but not to the point of risk any more than any other day on the road in Lacey. If you drive smart you will be fine.

WELL THERE IS NO CONCRETE DIVIDER IN THAT PICTURE AND YES THE RAMP WAS BLOCKED .
Resident of Lacey December 08, 2013 at 06:53 PM
Elaine, no need to scream at me, please take another look to the right in the photo, divider to the right construction equipment in the background to the left, where is this photo from? Where is the accident blocking the ramp? Where is the ramp? I also do not see the parkway in the photo either? If the patch was to run a story about you, your family or friends and posted photos of obama rather than you, your family or friends would that be okay with you? Have you ever seen CNN write an article about Afghanistan and then use a photo of Burbank California? If that was to happen they would correct it and issue an apology once it was discovered. Errors can happen but the photos I have been seeing on here are not errors they are decorations designed to be like what was reported not of what was reported.

Did anyone get hurt in this accident? I do hope all were okay.
ELAINE December 08, 2013 at 07:00 PM
RESIDENT I AM NOT HOLLERING AT YOU AT ALL I HAVE TO USE CAPS TO SEE I SEE NO DIVIDER ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT MY SON WAS COMING HOME FROM SOUTH BRUNSWICK AND STATED THERE WAS A ACCIDENT AND THAT THE RAMP WAS BLOCKED .AND THE ROADS WERE TERRIBLE.
Resident of Lacey December 08, 2013 at 07:09 PM
Okay I get it you have impaired vision hence the caps so perhaps you simply can not see the photo is from some other place than Lacey. The fact of an accident and that it blocked the ramp was never disputed. The dispute is that the photo is not showing anything that was being reported other than their is a roadway with snow falling in the photo it is not related to the story. I am however glad to know that your son made it home safe.

RESIDENT, THANK YOU AND I CAN SEE THE PICTURE AND YOU MAY BE VERY RIGHT.

More important than the picture not being accurate is the narrative: "typing up traffic." Seems @proud is proof reading this material.

I was just going to say....if one does not like the Patch, then do not view/review it....the corrections and lambasting of Patch is almost more annoying than the typos etc. Patch is what is it...it is not worth getting in a lather over....jeez...

agreed.....people if you don't like it don't look at it.....Im sure the patch has a very small budget.......and Im sure the editor isn't paid a lot.......cut them some slack

AMEN

Resident says "Did anyone get hurt in this accident? I do hope all were okay.", what he really meant to say is are there any picture of the accident? Reporters taking pictures for the patch are not paid reporters, so I'd lighten up a little there Sherlock Holmes!

When the patch started out it was intended to be a local "paper" and events board however the founder took it in to a whole different direction. While it still struggles to look like a real new outlet it is not and can not always be used as an trusted source on information. The platform is designed to attract eyeballs to ads and make money. This is the real reason why the photos do not match the story and why out silly bits of bickering are aloud to continue. The more arguing and posting and heated things get the more people see and click. It is truly that simple. I really did want to know that everyone was okay and a photo could have given more of a clue than a photo from wheresoever. The two link below will lend more insight to what I say and reveal a clear picture about the patch. http://www.theawl.com/2013/02/patch-com-journalism-fail http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2013/05/09/why-aol-should-not-have-bought-huffington-post-and-patch/
