UPDATE: Funeral Arrangements For Longtime Lanoka Harbor Fire Chief Kevin Perrone Announced

Perrone, who passed away early Wednesday morning, served the fire department for more than 30 years

Kevin Perrone answered the call of duty for the Lanoka Harbor Fire Company and Lacey Township for more than three decades.

And today, his brothers are mourning the loss of their chief, who died this morning of complications from a lung ailment, said former Chief Jack Amrozewicz.

Perrone suffered a lack of oxygen when his lungs filled up with fluid about 1:30 a.m. on Memorial Day. He passed out and had been hospitalized ever since, he said.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Lanoka Harbor FD regrets to announce the passing of Chief Kevin Perrone," a post on the fire department's Facebook page said this morning. "Chief Perrone was not only our leader, but a mentor, brother, well respected and most of all, a great friend! Chief Perrone has served 30 plus years with LHFD and has held multiple positions within the department over the years.

The viewing for Chief Perrone will be on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a fireman's service at 7:30 p.m. at Riggs Funeral Home in Forked River. The funeral will be held on Monday June 10th at 11 a.m. at Lanoka Harbor Firehouse on Route 9 South.

The fire department asks that residents keep Perrone's wife Karen, his sons Kevin and Nicky and his family in their thoughts.

"6100, as you go to help command the ultimate fire department up above, rest easy knowing that your fellow brothers and sisters have it from here," the department's Facebook page states. "You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again!"
