Local Residents Nabbed on Shoplifting Charges

TJ Maxx employee stole from store, police allege

Two local residents were arrested in recent days in shoplifting incidents in Lacey.

Township police arrested 19-year-old Ashley Cavalier of Devon Street in Lanoka Harbor on Jan. 15 after they say she shoplifted merchandise valued at $75 from the TJ Maxx store in the Lacey Mall shopping center.

Cavalier, who was an employee of the store, is also accused of stealing cash and merchandise valued at $150. She was processed and later released after receiving a criminal summons, police said.

In a separate incident, 29-year-old Korey James of Dess Street in Toms River was arrested and charged with taking merchandise worth $750 from the township's Walmart store on Jan. 15.

James was processed and later released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
