A Lacey Township woman is accused of stealing more than $500 from Girl Scout Troop 258 by cashing and forging checks for Girl Scout cookies and keeping the money, according to a grand jury indictment.
Christine E. Sandella, 28, of Oak Hill Court, is between March 21-31. According to her indictment, she forged two checks, one for $353 and another for $162 on March 31 and passed them at a Lacey branch of the Ocean First Bank.
Sandella is free on $40,000 bail.
The grand jurors also indicted:
Trevor W. May, 20, of Binnacle Road, Forked River, for an alleged aggravated assault on a Lacey detective and resisting arrest on June 6. May is also charged with having stolen steel rebar in Lacey on May 4, and stolen jewelry there on May 23.
Bernard K. Kappen, 20, of Falmouth Avenue, Whiting, is accused of having the same stolen jewelry and silver coins in Lacey on the same day.
May is in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, unable to post $40,000 bail. Kappen is free on $7,500 bail.
May was arrested by the Lacey Police Department on June 7 and charged with after a home in Forked River was burglarized. On June 9, he was arrested for allegedly and allegedly stealing over $4,700 in jewelry. In April, for having a stolen 8 HP Mercury outboard engine on Sept. 9 and for stealing coins and jewelry from a woman in Lacey on Oct. 1.
- Justin A. Schlesier, 19, of Amherst Street, Lanoka Harbor, for having stolen property worth more than $500 in Lacey Township between Dec. 6-9. He is free on $35,000 bail.
- Tara C. Thau, 23, of Bonita Way, Waretown, for stealing more than $500 by forging checks drawn on the county of Joseph Dooley in Toms River, Lacey and Barnegat between Nov. 15 and Dec. 27.
