Lakewood Woman Accused of Stealing Credit Card, Carrying Drugs

Danielle Appenzeller allegedly stole a purse from a shopping cart at ShopRite and a wallet at the Lacey Walmart

A Lakewood woman was arrested after she allegedly stole a purse in Lacey and fraudulently used a credit card, police said.

Danielle Appenzeller was identified by Lacey police as a suspect that allegedly stole a purse from a shopping cart at ShopRite at 12:44 p.m. on Dec. 27.

Appenzeller was located in a nearby neighborhood after she allegedly fled the store on foot, police said. Officers Della Sala and Paul Sullivan took her into custody.

During her arrest, police found her in possession of heroin, prescription drugs, and two hypodermic syringes, police said.

Further investigation revealed that earlier that day, Appenzeller stole a wallet from a purse at the Lacey Walmart and used a stolen credit card in the Lacey Home Depot, police said.

Appenzeller was charged with two counts of third degree theft, one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a prescription legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe and fraudulent use of a credit card.

She was sent to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $30,000.

This woman does not need tears. Just help... Which most people don't give anymore. Makes me sick.
Jennifer Lynn December 31, 2012 at 01:44 AM
No hot meals at HOME DEPOT! And she could have used the $ for drugs on a hot meal. I think she has a baby too. Sad that it is an epidemic but don't make excuses. :(
GP1234 December 31, 2012 at 01:55 AM
Exactly how many shots does this individual get jones...doesnt look like the first go around for her. Let me get this straight...shes hets locked up previously for the same thing...and was offered "help" and she gets locked up again now. So whats the magic number for rehabilitation? I'll get my hanky ready.
Crystal Wheeler December 31, 2012 at 02:56 AM
Rehab is meant for people who want treatment to overcome their addictions, it is not meant to be an alternative for jail. Do the crime you should have to do the time. If after they complete their sentence for the crime they committed, then let them go to rehab. Why should we as a society allow these "sick" people to victimize our neighbors, family, and children by letting them get out of jail. What's next, should we allow drunk drivers who harm people out of a sentence too, because after all, these people are plagued with addiction as well. Furthermore, for the person who said maybe she stole because she was starving, how do you know the VICTIM wasn't starving as well? Stop excusing and condoning the behaviors of people on drugs!
billy jones December 31, 2012 at 06:07 AM
Not condoning what she did at all. It was not right. But there is no reason to give up on people so easily. Especially sick people. The poor girl was probably hungry, tired, and feels all alone.

Randy Butternubs December 31, 2012 at 01:39 PM
After a few months in jail she can start her rehab. In fact we can call jail rehab and charge he money to be there instead of charging us. If you were there the first time she was about to stick a needle in her arm and told her not to because she was going to give her self a disease you think she would have listened?
Randy Butternubs December 31, 2012 at 01:44 PM
What horrific reporting! The writer of this article belongs in a rehab. What about the part about the man from ShopRite that chased this dirty rotten junkie, tackled her and held her for police? This man is a hero that Lacey should be proud of. We need more people not just in this town but this world like him. Yet the Patch leaves this out??? Shame on you Patch. What else do you leave out od your stories?
Randy Butternubs December 31, 2012 at 01:50 PM
Well now she is fed , warm and has lots of friends . Poor girl my butt. Would you be posting about the poor woman that had to take off of work because she had to go get a new license and spend 2 days of phone calls trying to get her cards canceled. Or her credit ruined because she missed a card and the junkie ruined her perfect credit? Or how about the weeks pay she had taken from her wallet by the junkie? I don't think you would have. People like you are the problem. Be a solution in 2013 . You were a junkie at one time weren't you Billy?
Randy Butternubs December 31, 2012 at 01:58 PM
That's because you probably lost your license from a dwi Billy. Myself I'd rather not ruin my tires on my truck in pot holes and this dummie keep a needle out of her are by herself. Just like the needle got in her arm. Your save the world from dummies mentality will continue to drag the rest do us down that make an honest living and abide by societies rules. I have a great idea Billy. We know this girls name. You should pay for her rehab with your paycheck and let her know she is loved. Unless you yourself is collecting a check from the government for your own sickness
Randy Butternubs December 31, 2012 at 02:04 PM
Honestly Dixie. We know this woman's name. Go put up the 30k and have her over for New Years. I promise to write an open letter of apology to everyone if you don't find one thing missing from your house and you can tell us what she is doing to get her life together. No? I didn't think so. So don't force your fake compassion down everyones throats like you are some kind of wonderful person . You and Billy are big talk
Randy Butternubs December 31, 2012 at 02:08 PM
How about we give these offenders a harsh punishment instead of us having to live in fear? There must be a punishment so harsh that it can even get into a heroine junkies demented mind. Like maybe having to read everyone of Billy Jones comments he wrote on the patch
billy jones December 31, 2012 at 04:47 PM
Randy please stop. The reporter reported on the story just fine. The sad part of this whole thing is that this woman needs help and will probably not get it. Makes me sick just thinking of how scared she must be right now.
none ya December 31, 2012 at 10:49 PM
I think you should give her enough drugs to OD and let natural selection take its course. If that is too harsh for some of you then please by all means follow the law lock her up and then AFTER she has done her time make her go to mandatory rehab, which she will have to pay back the state and the VICTIM of her crimes with money she makes after she gets done with it all and gets a job. @Randy thank you for pointing out the missing pieces of the story; thank you to the man who chased her down.
billy jones January 01, 2013 at 01:41 AM
The man that chased her down should be brought up on charges. Last time I checked a man from shoprite does not wear a badge and has no right to physically assault another person.
GP1234 January 01, 2013 at 07:56 AM
chased her down...meaning she fled after aledgedly commiting a crime. billy you wouldnt happen to be a defense attorney would you...because your arguments border nonsence. wake up fruit loop
billy jones January 01, 2013 at 03:56 PM
Ya how about I drive down the road see someone speeding run them off the road and make a citizens arrest. Get a grip people.
GP1234 January 01, 2013 at 06:48 PM
earth to jones...
Randy Butternubs January 02, 2013 at 02:22 AM
There is the crux of this difference of opinion between Billy and the rest of the world. Billy had no grasp of levels of what isn't right. If you Billy honestly feel that speeding is the same as stealing a woman's purse then we can leave it at that. The reporter did not do a good job Billy. He left out parts of the story. Honestly answer me on this Billy .Explain why you feel that's considered a good job in your mind. Does your unsensable compassion come from the fact that you are a current using addict Billy?
JOHNNY Done it January 02, 2013 at 03:31 AM
Mr or Mrs Jones what ever you are When you speeding down the road run into something like a pole ..So the citizens posting know you are on something..

Wow, I can't believe I actually wasted that much time reading all the responses. I especially love how "Spartacus" (Ricky butterball, or butterfinger whatever his name is) gets all Maury Povich up in here...."first of all..." all while spastically jerking his head left to right and snapping his fingers in your face. Haha uh-ugh... No he dih-int!!!! Really people? Who gives a shit? Honestly? Oh and by the way...next time you feel like dusting off your soap box, make sure you click that little "spell check" button before you submit your extremely intellectual statement. If you really think what you say impacts anyone in some perverse version of reality then at least set a good example for all the toothless inbred children that will someday be running this planet because of people like you that shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. Thank you. That is all
