Lacey Police Report Several Recent Thefts In Township

Jewelry valued at $2,800, canoe, tablet stolen in separate incidents


Clearview Street - Patrolmen Michael Hein and Noah Schaffer responded to a report of a burglary in the 1300 block of Clearview Street at 5:32 p.m. on April 10, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

The homeowner reported told police that when she returned home at approximately 5:30 p.m., she found several of her dresser drawers and jewelry boxes were open. The victim told police that nine pieces of jewelry valued at $2,800 had been stolen.  The detective bureau responded to the scene and is conducting the follow-up investigation. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Unit responded also assisted at the scene.

Oxgoose Drive - On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 3:30 p.m., Officer John Simonson responded to the 800 block of Oxgoose Drive in Lanoka Harbor at 3:30 p.m. on April 8  to a reported theft. The victim reported that an unknown person or persons stole his 17-foot Sears aluminum canoe between January of this year and April 8, 2014. The value of the canoe is estimated at $1,200.

• West Lacey Road - Officer Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the 2200 block of West Lacey Road in reference to a theft at 7:32 p.m. on April 9. The resident reported that an unknown person or persons stole approximately $85 in loose change and a Samsung Tablet valued at $350 from the residence during the prior week. No signs of forced entry were located.
