Lacey Police Officers Named In Accidental Shooting

Officer Julie Barcalow sustained minor injuries after accidental shooting

A Lacey Township police officer sustained injuries after an officer’s weapon accidently discharged on June 2, officials said.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. Officer Gerard Noda’s weapon accidently discharged, injuring Officer Julie Barcalow, said Deputy Chief Michael Mohel.

The incident occurred in the department’s squad room after a training exercise, officials said.

Barcalow was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River where she was treated and released.

Information from the Lacey Township Police Department immediately following the incident indicated that a hand got stuck in a door.

Additional details could not be provided as the incident is under an internal affairs investigation by the Lacey Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
