Lacey Police Nab Man Wanted in Nevada on Child Porn Violation

Point Pleasant man also held on outstanding warrants in New Jersey

A Point Pleasant man faces extradition to Nevada on a child pornography conviction probation violation after being arrested Thursday in the Wawa parking lot.

Steven J. Fischer, 53, was among two passengers in a car stopped at 9:46 a.m. in the store parking lot on Lacey Road. Passenger Joshua J. Berberich, 26, of Tuckerton was arrested on an outstanding $300 Tuckerton warrant.

Police said Fischer initially gave them a false name and date of birth in "an attempt to conceal his identity due to several outstanding warrants." Fischer was wanted on two warrants totalling $2,150 out of Stafford, one for $200 out of Mullica Township and one for $858 out of Bass River, police said.

All of the warrants were for contempt of court for DUI, police said.

Further investigation revealed that Fischer was wanted in Nevada under an alias on a no-bail warrant for a probation/parole violation for a 2011 child pornography possession conviction, police said.

Fischer is being held in Ocean County Jail on $20,000 bail, no 10 percent option, on the charges levied Thursday in Lacey. Police said Nevada will begin the process of extraditing him on the probation violation.
