Lacey Police Charge Clearwater Drive Man With Heroin Distribution

Lacey police find 196 bags of heroin in car dashboard


A Forked River man is in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $101,000 cash bail after Lacey police found 196 bags of heroin hidden in a car dashboard, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Police had been watching Robert Zaug, 51, since an investigation began after they and paramedics responded to the home at 100 Clearwater Drive for an apparent heroin overdose on June 6, the chief said.

Police stopped the car Haug was a passenger in on Trenton Avenue on June 26. He was arrested on two outstanding warrants, one from Lacey and one from Evesham Township, Paprota said.

Lacey detectives found 196 bags of heroin along with Alprazolam (Xanax) hidden in the dashboard where Zaug was seated. The driver of the car, George Boustania, 103 Cayuga Road, Barnegat, was also arrested, the chief said.

Zaug was charged with possession of heroin, possession of Alprazolam (Xanax), and intent to distribute heroin. Zaug was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $101,000 cash bail, Paprota said.

Boustania was charged with possession of heroin and pssession of Alprazolam (Xanax).  He was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance, the chief said.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit assisted with the search.
