Lacey police have arrested an 18-year-old Forked River man in connection with the armed robbery at the Country Farm store on Monday, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Detective Robert Surtees arrested Alex Marsh, Hollywood Drive, without incident at his home at 9:30 a.m. on April 2, the chief said.

Marsh was taken to police headquarters and charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes (third degree) and unlawful possession of a weapon (fourth degree), Paprota said.

The robbery occurred when the suspect entered the Country Farms store in the Eric Plaza on Lacey Road on Monday.

The incident, which happened at approximately 5:15 p.m., involved a suspect who reportedly produced a knife and demanded money. It was caught on the store's security camera. He fled the store on foot after being denied the money, police said.

Ocean County Superior Court Judge Francis Hodgson set Marsh's bail at $250,00, with no ten percent option. Marsh will be transferred to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River after more forensic processing, the chief said.

@nicholas I definitely can not disagree with because he did do it to himself but it doesn't make how I feel or my opinion on the situation any different. N ur right he may very well join a gang in prison but only to be able to survive while in there

@BEENTHEREDONETHAT I completely understand where u are coming from n it's sad that after everything the prosecutor did or can deny you of a 2nd chance, especially with no prior record. However I'm not sure if u know this but even if you were to be granted PTI n successfully completed it, it does still show up on ur record. I know this from personal experience. They tell you it doesn't but it does. It shows ur original charges then states PTI completed under the sentence. N that still makes it extremely hard to gain employment. I truly hope there is a bright light at the end of this tunnel that ur in. I strongly feel most ppl deserve a 2nd chance...

@Thomas: The road's been long. And it will continue to be long. Recovery won't change that. But it will make it easier to navigate. I'm so proud to hear a young adult take responsibility for their past without dwelling in it... You're doing a remarkable thing for yourself and for the people around you. Don't lose the faith, kiddo... your worst day sober will ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT be better than your best day wasted. There are, as you see, plenty of folks who support you... it's a beautiful thing. Continue to inspire, young Thomas...
