Lacey Man Served Motor Vehicle Summonses After Hit and Run

A Forked River resident was served multiple motor vehicle summonses after a hit and run accident, police said.

Police made a motor vehicles stop, arresting Dewann McAllister, 41, on Jan. 19 at 2:13 a.m.

The police department had received reports of a car that struck a telephone pole on Orlando Drive and fled the crash scene, police said.

McAllister was charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to exhibit documents, failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident.

Jan. 19
Police responded to Tre’ Chic Salon on report of a person being detained on suspicion of shoplifting. Kelly Hammer, 41, of Lanoka Harbor was charged with one count of shoplifting for allegedly attempting to steal $41.73 of merchandise. 

Jan. 18
A resident of Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor reported that the freestanding garage located in the rear of the property was entered by force. Hand tools valued at more than $800 were stolen, including a chainsaw, Sawzall and a couple of grinders.

A 21-year-old resident of Barnegat reported being the victim of a pick pocketing incident while in the parking lot of the Forked River House at 2 a.m. A wallet containing personal identification, credit cards and cash was stolen. The total value was approximately $77. 

Jan.17
A resident of Holland Avenue in Forked River reported that someone stole a coin collection valued over $800 from within the home. There was no forced entry. 

Jan. 16
Joseph Verdesco, 19, of Forked River was arrested after he allegedly was driving on Lake Barnegat Drive with his high beams on at 11:26 p.m. Police conducted a motor vehicle stop and charged Verdesco with DWI, reckless driving, failure to dim high beams, violation of ignition interlock and underage DWI. 

Jan. 16
A resident of Lanoka Harbor reported that their unlocked vehicle was entered while parked in the Walmart parking lot. A black Coach purse valued at $300 and $50 in cash was stolen. 

Jan. 16
Police responded to a home on Lee Way in Forked River on unrelated call and charged Carmen Rao, 26, of Forked River on a summons with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
