Thefts occurred over past several months, police say

A Lacey man is facing criminal charges after police say he stole, then cashed, checks from a charitable organization.

Brendan Twigg-Patrick, 27, of Ridge Road in Forked River, has been charged with third degree theft by deception, third degree forgery and third degree uttering of a forged object.

According to police, Twigg-Patrick allegedly stole more than 20 checks from a checkbook belonging to a local charity, forged the checks, then cashed them at local banks.

The combined estimated value of the cashed checks is $2,405, police said.

He was processed by Lacey police on Monday and released on summonses pending a future court date.

The incidents occurred over the past several months, police said. The name of the charity involved in the case was not divulged.
