Boy was hit by car on Clearwater Street last weekend

Police are still investigating the circumstances of a May 26 accident involving a 14-year-old Forked River boy who was struck by a car on Clearwater Street, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

The youth was standing with a group of friends on the south side of the roadway at 7:10 p.m. when he was hit by a 2008 Nissan driven by Kathleen Salanitro, 60, Forked River, police said.

"The matter is still under investigation," the chief said. "With accident investigations like this one, the investigators often complete the investigation before issuing any summonses."
