Forked River Woman Airlifted to Hospital After Late-Night Crash

Investigation revealed intoxication and speed as contributing factors to the motor vehicle accident, police said

Alcohol and speed were causes of a late-night car accident that had a Forked River woman airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Tuesday, police said.

Police responded to the scene at Lakeside Drive North near Kearny Avenue at 11:54 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A Jeep Cherokee had extensive damage to the passenger side.

The driver, Eric Fitts, 26, of Forked River was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for minor injuries. The passenger, Christian Perchaluk, 25, of Forked River is currently listed in stable condition with a head injury at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Preliminary investigation revealed intoxication and speed as contributing factors to the crash.

Members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Unit and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office also responded to the scene.
