Forked River Man Hired For Odd Jobs Charged With Stealing Checks

A Forked River man is facing charges of theft by deception and forgery after police say he stole checks from a home and cashed them.

Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas met with a resident on July 15 who reported that she was the victim of a theft of checks from her residence. The woman told police she had hired Christopher Boardingham, 22, North Lakeside Drive to do odd jobs around the house, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

The resident told police she suspected he stole the checks and made them out to himself, then cashed them, the chief said.

Tsarnas investigated the matter and signed criminal complaints against Christopher Boardingham for theft by deception and forgery. Boardingham was subsequently arrested, processed, and released on the criminal summonses pending a court date, Paprota said.
