Forked River Man Charged With Arson, Criminal Mischief
Lacey Police respond to Evans Road residence twice in one evening
Shortly after midnight on Nov. 3, the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a dispute at a residence on Evans Road in Forked River. One party involved in the dispute was a resident of the home, 39 year-old Robert C. Roefaro of Forked River.
When the dispute was initially settled, Roefaro agreed to leave the premises for the remainder of the evening, police said. Several hours later, officers responded to the Evans Road home for a second time after receiving a 9-1-1 call in reference to a fire. A second resident of the home overheard suspicious noises outside and discovered her vehicle on fire, police said.
Roefaro was then located by police hiding in the backyard of the property, and was subsequently arrested. The 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck suffered fire damage to the driver’s side, but was not destroyed. Roefaro was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, after being charged with aggravated arson and criminal mischief, police said.
