Forked River Man Arrested After Trying To Shoplift A 55-Inch TV From Walmart

Television valued at $700 recovered at suspect's home, chief says

Lacey police recently arrested a Forked River man after he tried to leave to WalMart on Route 9 North with a 55-inch flat screen television without paying for it, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Officer Michael Hein responded to Walmart in Lanoka Harbor at 2:56 p.m. on May 3 on a shoplifting report. Police investigated further and were able to identify the suspect as William J. Hoefsloot, 37, Parkside Drive, the chief said.

Officers John D. Simonson and Hein went to Hoefsloot’s residence, where he was arrest and charged with shoplifting. The officers recovered the television at the scene, Paprota said.

Hoefslott was taken to police headquarters and later released. The television is is valued at roughly $700, the chief said.
