Forked River Man Arrested After Police Chase

When Mark Walicke finally pulled over, he allegedly fled the scene

A Forked River man was arrested after a police chase through town, officials said.

Mark Walicke, 59, of Nantucket Road in Forked River was allegedly driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed westbound on Beach Boulevard on Aug. 28 at approximately 7:55 p.m.

Officer Julie Barcalow attempted to stop Walicke but lost sight of the vehicle. Barcalow saw the same vehicle traveling eastbound on Beach Boulevard at around 8:03 p.m. Barcalow once again tried to perform a traffic stop but Walicke would not stop.

Walicke pulled in his driveway, exited his vehicle, fled the scene, and was later arrested.

He was charged with eluding, obstructing the administration of law, speeding, reckless driving, failure to stop, failure to signal, no seatbelt and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change.

Walicke was sent to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
