Forked River Dentist Charged With Prescription Fraud

Police: Employee stole prescription blanks from a Monmouth County dental office

A Forked River man was arrested for allegedly forging prescription blanks, police officials said.

Alan Schwartz, 49, of Lanoka Harbor stands accused of stealing prescription blanks from a Monmouth County dental office where he was employed part-time.

Schwartz filled two fraudulent prescriptions for Percocet at Walmart and Shop Rite in Lanoka Harbor.

Detective James Wood was alerted by a local pharmacist regarding possible prescription frauds on May 11 and arrested Schwartz on May 16.

Schwartz was charged with two counts of uttering a forged prescription blank, two counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, and two counts of insurance fraud. Schwartz was sent to Ocean County Jail with his bail set at $50,000.

Schwartz also worked as a general dentistry specialist at his practice in the Baycorp Building located on Lacey Road in Forked River. According to the Yellow Pages, the practice has been in business since 2006.
