Floridian Charged With DWI, Other Motor Vehicle Offenses

Police blotter from the past week

A Floridian was arrested and charged with motor vehicle offenses after he was observed speeding.

Brian Becar, 29, of Jensen Beach, Fla. was observed by police at 1:41 a.m. Jan 12 driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9 near Haines Street.

Investigation led to Becar being charged with DWI, reckless driving, speeding, refusal to submit to a breath test and unregistered vehicle.

He was processed and released at the police department in compliance with John’s Law, which mandates the impoundment of the vehicle when arrested under the influence unless released to another person.

Jan. 12
Andrea Dekker, 32, of Bayville was charged with shoplifting after she allegedly removed $53.31 of merchandise from the retail shelves in Walmart and attempted to return it. Police reported to the scene at 3:15 p.m. when Dekker was being detained by store security. She was processed and released. 

Jan. 11
Police officers responded to a Route 9 fast food restaurant at 3 p.m. after receiving tips of a possible intoxicated male. Timothy Lasky, 25, of Toms River was located at the restaurant and charged with DWI and reckless driving.

Police responded to a Clairmore Avenue home in Lanoka Harbor. The homeowners were living in a camper parked on the property while the residence was being repaired due to damage from the hurricane. The window and screen door of the camper sustained $100 in damage.

Police reported to Capstan Drive in Forked River where a resident reported a UPS packaged valued at $275 was stolen from the front stoop.
