Driver Faces Drug Charges In Lacey After Speeding On Route 9, Cops Say

A 35-year-old man faces drug charges after he was speeding on Route 9 in Lacey, police said.

Dametrious R. Summers of Atlantic City was charged with possession of more than 50 grams of Marijuana as well as possession with the intent to distribute CDS.

At 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Patrol Officer Michael Verwey stopped a 2008 Nissan Altima for speeding and failure to maintain a lane on Route 9 near Game Farm Road in Forked River, police said.

While speaking with the driver, Verwey detected the distinct odor of marijuana. Continuing investigation led to a consent search of the vehicle and the discovery of packaged marijuana, police said.

Three individually wrapped clear bags containing marijuana were found in the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle's registered owner and operator, Summers, was then placed under arrest, police said.

Sumners was transported to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

The vehicle was impounded for potential forfeiture.

An investigation is continuing into the location in Lacey Township where the CDS was to be delivered.

The Patch has changed and unfortunately not for the better. And while, no, I can not do a better job, only bc of no "reporting the news" training I still know the difference between good reporting and bad reporting. All the local towns are a carbon copy of the next town. Story is verbatim from another town they can 're even change the words up a bit.Sad Maybe they should just do a Ocean County News instead.

What a joke. The guy had a couple bags of weed in his trunk. The vast majority of Americans want to end cannabis prohibition immediately, but for some reason the groups that profit from the war on weed don't seem to get that. Hm I wonder why?

Wow, this is bad, even by Patch standards. The useless picture in no way matches the "story" and is intentionally misleading. But considering Tom Davis wrote the article, this is exactly what you should (sadly) expect.

He was speeding and failed to maintain a lane..I don't care about the marijuana they found, I care that my kids and my family are safe knowing he's not out there running them off the road. And I most certainly don't care about the dumb picture. It's about what's in the article not about what's in the picture.
