Cyclist Airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center After Crash

Authorities responded to vehicle-cyclist collision on Nautilus Boulevard

A cyclist was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune early this morning with a head injury after he collided with an automobile on Nautilus Boulevard.

At approximately 2:50 a.m., investigating officers from the Lacey Township Police Department, Ptl. George Resetar and Ptl. Jeffrey Slota, responded to a report of the crash. Upon arrival, officers observed a Dodge Neon sedan with extensive damage to the front bumper and windshield, police said.

The cyclist, 23-year-old Daniel J. Locandro of Lanoka Harbor, was found on the ground in the middle of the westbound lane of Nautilus Boulevard with a head injury, police said.

Lacey Township EMS and MONOC Paramedics responded to the scene as well. The Forked River Fire Department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation Unit also assisted at the scene.
