Cops: Drunk Driver Fled Lacey Accident Scene

Suspected drunk driver pulled into what she thought was a vacant driveway after fleeing, cops say

Lacey police arrested a township woman for drunk driving after she allegedly fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

Toni E. Blackwell, 54, of Forked River, is accused of driving away from the scene of an accident at the intersection of Deerhead Lake Drive and Serpentine Drive that occurred Jan. 9.

In the accident, police say, she ran a stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Forked River man, who then followed her after she fled. Blackwell, police say, eventually pulled into a driveway of a residence that she thought was vacant.

Blackwell was issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.
