Bloomfield Police Charge Lacey Man With Sexual Assault

Lacey police arrested John Pentz on a $175,000 warrant

A Forked River man was recently arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Officers from the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a Forked River home on Wednesday, Aug. 15, where they assisted in the arrest of John Pentz, 69, on a $175,000 warrant issued by Bloomfield police.

Pentz was transported to Lacey headquarters and turned over to the Bloomfield Police Department. He was charged with aggravated assault, sexual assault to a 4-year-old victim, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Bloomfield Police did not return several calls for comment.

According to the Essex County Department of Corrections, Pentz remains in jail.

Lt. James Veltri provided the following information: 

Aug. 15
A Lacey resident reported that a 1979 yellow Toyota Celica was stolen from the driveway of a house on Arlington Avenue. Scrap metal valued at $50 that was left on the side of home also was stolen. The car was valued at $350. 

Aug. 15
Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Joffre Road, Forked River, at 10:30 p.m.  Upon arrival, police found a car on the front lawn of a residence.

Meggan McGuire, 23, of Forked River was charged with DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. She was arrested, processed and released to a family member.

A resident from Port Street, Forked Rive,r reported that with the past eight months, more than $1,700 of jewelry was discovered stolen. There was no sign of forced entry.

An officer responded to Tappan Street in Forked River where a Samsung smart phone and a GPS were stolen from within a vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The car was locked. The value of the stolen items was $200. 

Aug. 15
Police reported to Station Drive in Forked River where an unlocked vehicle was entered during the overnight hours. Approximately $80 in loose change was taken. 

Aug. 14
A resident of Parker Avenue in Forked River reported that during the overnight hours someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a men’s wallet with personal identification and two bottles of cologne. The total value of the stolen items was $93. 

Aug. 14
A resident of Tappan Street reported that a guitar was stolen from the home. Investigation led to recovery of the guitar. Richard Louis, 21, of Forked River was charged on a summons with theft of guitar. He was processed and released. 

Aug. 14
A resident of Joffre Road reported that during the overnight hours, someone spray painted a mailbox causing $50 in damage.

During the same time period, a resident of Llewellyn Parkway also reported that someone knocked a mailbox off of its post causing $25 in damage. 

Aug. 14
Officers responded to Walmart where Abbey Zub, 24, of Bayville was being detained for allegedly shoplifting.

Upon arrival, police determined that Zub allegedly attempted to steal $35.38 of merchandise.

Zub was charged with shoplifting. When searched, police found her to have a controlled dangerous substance on her.

She was additionally charged with possession of hypodermic syringes, drug paraphernalia, possession of prescription legend drugs, possession of heroin and possession of Oxycodone.

Another resident of Joffre Road reported that someone damaged a mailbox with graffiti causing $20 in damage. 

Aug. 14
An Ensign Road, Forked River resident reported that while a vehicle was parked in the driveway, someone shattered the front driver side window. Glass was strewn inside and outside of the car. There was $150 in damage.
