Air Conditioner Thieves Hit Lacey

Two incidents reported in one day, one at the Lacey Moose Lodge

The impending unofficial end of summer didn't stop thieves from stealing air conditioners in Lacey on Thursday.

Police reported two separate incidents of air conditioning unit thefts, along with a description of the suspect vehicle in one of them.

The first incident occurred at the Lacey Moose Lodge on Route 9, where two male suspects got away with an air conditioning condenser unit between 4:18 a.m. and 5:10 a.m, police said in a statement. The unit was taken from the rear of the building.

Surveillance cameras filmed two unknown, white males committing the theft, police said.

The suspects drove away from the scene in a smaller, tan or gold four-door vehicle, possible a Honda or Hyundai, police said. The vehicle had black rims and tint on the rear window, the video showed, as well as a lowered suspension that makes it ride closer to the ground.

The estimated value of the theft is $2,500, the report said.

Late Thursday evening, officers investigated another air conditioning unit theft - this time on Taylor Lane in Forked River.

The theft occurred from the rear yard of the residence sometime between Wednesday, Aug. 28 and the evening hours of Thursday, Aug. 29.
