Police: Motorists With Toddler in Possession of Heroin

Local men charged with endangering the welfare of a child in addition to drug charges

Two locals were arrested after police conducted a motor vehicle stop and found heroin.

Andrew Stanowski, 23, of Forked River and Andrew Stanowski, Jr., 68, of Seaside Heights were arrested after they were pulled over on Wednesday on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor.

During the stop, police said they found Stanowski in possession of heroin.The investigation revealed that the vehicle had just returned from Trenton, where the drugs were purchased, police said.

Stanowski, Jr. also was arrested for his alleged participation.

A 2-year-old child in the vehicle was turned over to the child’s mother, and the Division of Youth and Family Services was notified.

Stanowski was charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin and endangering the welfare of a child.

The second-degree charge of endangering the welfare of a child carries a penalty of five to 10 years in jail, officials said.

Both were sent to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of their bail.
